Deborah ended up leading Israel during the time of the judges and was one of the judges because the king essentially abdicated his authority to her. He was afraid of making decisions so he gave it all over to her. There’s also the story about Deborah and her tricky friend who shoved the tent peg through Jael’s head and the way Deborah brought about victory to Israel.
