October 15th 2006 Habakkuk - Message #2 A Midrash |
A big component of Habakkuk is crisis and dialogue. He finds himself in all kinds of trouble and the Hebrew people find themselves in all kinds of trouble. They call out to God and ask God for help. The way in which he asks those questions is important because he is giving voice to something that is representative not only of himself but an entire people, and an entire people backwards through time. He is giving voice to the questions of the history of his people and not just his own personal questions at that moment.
